Refrain from eating 12 hours prior to surgery.
This includes ANY and all liquids and foods (even snacks). We ask you not to eat because it presents a risk to your health during the surgery.

Arrive on time.
Your surgery scheduler will give you a specific time to arrive at the hospital or surgery center. Please arrive on time to ensure your surgery can proceed as planned.

Make travel arrangements.
Arrange to have someone drop you off and pick you up from your procedure. You will be under anesthetic and will be unable to operate a vehicle.

Make time for your recovery.
Having surgery is a big deal for your body. Although you might feel great a day or two after, please allow your body enough time to heal. Depending on your injury your doctor will tell you exactly how long you can expect to recover. Take the time to rest and let your body do the work!

Post Operative Information

Cool that site.
Applying ice packs or cooling wraps to the site of your injury will decrease inflammation and increase recovery time. Your doctor will help you pick the right cooling method for your injury.

Take it easy.
When your doctor says no stairs after your knee surgery, it’s definitely for a reason. Take it easy and allow your body to fully recover before returning to normal activities.   Depending on your injury your doctor will advise you on exactly how long you can expect to recover.

Do physical therapy.
The benefits of physical therapy are amazing in aiding in injury recovery. If you are prescribed physical therapy after your procedure, stick to your recovery plan to ensure the best results possible.
